When the Button Images are installed after Banner Maker Pro, the button images will be automatically placed in the backgrounds directory in a folder called 'GG Button Images'. The complete path (if Banner Maker Pro is installed to the default directory) is C:\Program Files\Banner Maker Pro 7\backgrounds\GG Button Images.
Under the GG Button Images directory, are three more directories, which each contain a set of similar images:
Black Matte - Use the images in this folder if the background on the website where the buttons will be is black. The transparent edges of the buttons will have a slightly darker color.
Transparent - Use the images in this folder if you are unsure what color background the website will be, or if the background could be any color. The transparent edges of the buttons will be sharper, but they will not blend with dark or light images.
White Matte - Use the images in this folder if the background on your website is white. The transparent edges of the images will blend easily with a white background.
For examples of the differences between the three matte types (black matte, white matte, transparent) and how they interact with the background, see the table below.
Image with White Matte and White Background | Image w/ Transparent Matte and White Background | Image with Black Matte and White Background |
Image with White Matte and White Background | Image w/ Transparent Matte and White Background | Image with Black Matte and White Background |
Image with White Matte and White Background | Image w/ Transparent Matte and White Background | Image with Black Matte and White Background |
Note how the edging of the diagonal flag shape looks better or worse depending on matte color and background color.
Under each of the three directories (white matte, black matte, and transparent) will be 60 directories that contain the images. The Buttons-VStyles, CurvedCornersStyles and GlassStyles directories also contain more directories with different sizes and styles. Double-Click on the directories to view the images.
Once you have selected an image, click on it and choose OK. The image will now show as the background with green behind it. The green will be removed when the image is saved.
If the banner size does not match the background image size, you will have to resize the image so that the image does not get distorted. In Banner Maker Pro version 7.02 and higher, if the size of the background image does not match the banner, you will be asked to resize the banner to fit the image. For previous versions, you will have to go to the Size tab and resize the image to match the button size. The button size (width and height) will be displayed on the background images dialog.
Use Banner Maker Pro's Text, Image and Shape tabs to create your button.
On the save tab, make sure that Transparency is checked and that the transparent color matches the color behind the button. Click on Save. If everything is correct, the green background will disappear on Preview.
